MEDPOROL Vitamin D3 Injection is a high-strength prescription preparation containing cholecalciferol, commonly known as Vitamin D3. Each 1ml ampoule provides 300,000 IU of cholecalciferol in an arachis-oil base. The retail pack contains six 1ml ampoules.
Because this is a very high-dose injectable product, it must be used only after medical evaluation and according to a physician’s exact instructions.
Brief Description
MEDPOROL is intended for intramuscular use only. A doctor may prescribe injectable Vitamin D in selected patients when clinically appropriate, often after assessing symptoms, medical history and laboratory results. It must not be considered an everyday supplement or a substitute for standard oral Vitamin D without medical advice.
Weight and Pack Size
The package contains six 1ml ampoules. Each ampoule contains 300,000 IU of cholecalciferol. The total shipping or gross package weight is not stated on the visible packaging.
How It Works
Cholecalciferol is converted in the body into active Vitamin D metabolites. These participate in calcium and phosphorus regulation and support normal bone mineralisation. The clinical response depends on the patient’s diagnosis, baseline Vitamin D level, kidney and liver function, calcium status and prescribed treatment plan.
Possible Side Effects
Possible reactions may include:
Pain, redness or swelling at the injection site
Nausea or vomiting
Constipation or abdominal discomfort
Headache, tiredness or weakness
Increased thirst or frequent urination
Elevated blood calcium
Allergic reaction, including a possible reaction to arachis/peanut oil
Excess Vitamin D can cause hypercalcaemia and potentially harm the kidneys or other tissues. Symptoms such as persistent vomiting, severe weakness, confusion, unusual thirst, frequent urination or an irregular heartbeat require urgent medical attention. Excessive Vitamin D is a recognised cause of hypercalcaemia. NCBI Bookshelf
